APA 8-Ball / APA 9-Ball Top Gun Tournaments

For those of you who have been anxiously awaiting the release of the FINAL TOP GUN lists for the 2011 FALL Session....wait no more.

Top Gun is a tournament held after each session that recognizes players for their performance during the session. There are 3 Top Gun Lists for 8-Ball (skill level 2-3 list, 4-5 list and a 6,7 list) and 3 Top Gun Lists for 9-Ball (skill level 1-3 list, 4-5 list, and a 6-9 list). Players earn points toward Top Gun based on the skill level of their opponent when winning a match (i.e. - beat a 5, get 5 points). Players can check out their personal Top Gun points on their Stats page.

The players making the final list are invited to play in the 'APA Top Gun Tournament'. Players qualified for APA TOP GUN must be active, have 10 scores, and be on a current roster in the format in which you qualified to be eligible to participate.

Rule Books and By-Laws. Please read and share them with your team members. Become familiar with the rules. READ THE BY-LAWS.

They are part of your rules. By-laws overrule or change some rules in your rulebook. Pay close attention to the section on score keeping. This area is very important so as not to let another team cheat you by keeping their handicap down. Read and pay attention to the section in the rulebook dealing with conduct.

APA Road Trip Blog: Stories about the APA from across the USA!

The road can be a lonely place - unless that road winds through the heart of APA country with over a quarter of a million members, each with a story to tell. Most folks are surprised to learn that as APA representatives, we actually don't get to play a great deal of pool when we travel. The simple truth is that we spend as much time as possible exchanging stories with players, location owners, and League Operators who make APA the largest and most colorful pool league in the world. We wouldn't have it any other way!

In fact, over the years, we've enjoyed this aspect of our jobs so much, we requested a way to share the faces and stories of the folks we meet with all APA members. Welcome to APA's "Road Trip" blog! Until we make it to your town, join us for a road trip through APA country.

SCOREKEEPING IN APA 8-BALL LEAGUE PLAY
Updated on January 17th @ 12:30 PM
Scorekeeping in APA League Play is very important to ensure proper handicapping and fair play. Here are instructional videos for how to properly keep score in both 8-Ball and 9-ball in APA. Please watch and encourage all your teammates to watch as well!

Reminder to all Team Captains!
Updated on August 15th @ 09:00 AM

Please Remember:
All new players must pay their $25 membership fee. Team captains will be held responsible for any membership fee's not paid by players. DO NOT ALLOW A NEW PLAYER TO PLAY until they give you their membership fee. Unfortunately, we have to pay the $25 membership to St. Louis for every new player, even if a team drops him or her from their roster after 1 match. If you collect the money before the match, you will not have to worry about paying for it out of your own pocket.

Eligibility for Playoffs
Remember, that in order to be eligible for Playoff matches at the end of this session, a player must play 6 matches during the current session. To play the TRI-CUP, a new player would need 6 matches overall, including the 6 matches during the session.

Weekly Fees - Past Due?
 • Please be sure that your team is caught up on all monies owed.
 • If your team owes past dues it may affect playoffs and wildcard draw.

Team Captain Responsibilities
 • Verify that all team members are valid APA members of legal age and that they are playing at     the skill level that reflects their true ability.
 • Collect membership fees and league dues from each player and submit to the appropriate drop     off location the day after play.
 • Distribute the weekly information that may appear in your envelope so all players are     informed of any important changes, notices, upcoming tournaments, etc.
 • Be responsible for having teammates at the scheduled match site on time.
 • Make sure proper score keeping procedures are followed.
 • Captains are responsible for the overall behavior of the team, and should notify the league     management of any member who is not following good sportsmanship.

Pre-Payment Option:
In order to avoid falling behind on your dues, or having to pay for forfeits out of your own pocket, captains may wish to pre-pay the entire session in the first or second week. A separate notice will be included in your first week's envelope explaining the benefits and procedures of this option.
